In 2008, Who Will Step Outside the Greenwash?

December 10, 2007 · Leave a Comment

Greenwash? In politics? TerraChoice Environmental Marketing company defines the six sins of Greenwash here.

You can report a greenwash sin to the Terra Choice vatican here.

So who will step outside the Greenwash in 2008?

So far Club “80% by 2050 /Cap and Trade system for Carbon Emissions” is up to their necks in Greenwash.

Those members are:
Senators John Edwards, Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton and Rudy Guiliani. The most enthusiastic greenwashers are Barack Obama and Hilary Clinton who are getting hammered by their state lobbyists.

Hilary Clinton visits New York State coal mine Huntley to give the NRG Energy effort a push in the “right” direction. see here.

Local Towananda paper explains the hyper greenwash: “integrated gasification combined cycle technology, which allows the plant to burn coal and recapture byproducts that would be harmful to the atmosphere.”

see: Discover Magazine, “Can Coal Come Clean“:
“What is both distressing and remarkable about the Polk plant is that it could do much more. “There’s no requirement for mercury capture, but 95 percent of it could be captured very easily,” Shorter adds. More important, the plant could also capture nearly all of coal’s most elusive and potentially disastrous emissions: carbon dioxide, the main gas that drives global warming.”

There is no environmentally sound way to clean coal.

As to Sen Obama:
“Illinois basin coal has more untapped energy potential than the oil reserves of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait combined. Senator Obama believes it is crucial that we invest in technologies to use these resources to reduce our dependence on foreign oil.”–Washington Post

And what of the other 2008 candidates outside the Club.

I call them the Lobby Club members. They add to the Clean Coal Lobby with an anything but foreign oil policy that includes nuclear power and offshore drilling. The Lobby Club includes former Governor Mitt Romney, Sen. John McCain and former Tennessee State senator Fred Thompson.
