Roamance a Cure

November 30, 2006 · Leave a Comment

Diamonds are Deadly

Today the news is about romance and about cures and tomorrow is World AID’s Day. And you have to think about this disease that it might not be a drug that is the cure. That it might not be blame on anything other than indiscriminate sex partners and no protection. And do we have a choice for that in the West? Is that choice different from the one in Africa or India? Our Media focuses on Africa but really, the largest case of AIDS in the world is in India. That’s why today’s news from India is so right on for the children.

President Clinton’s foundation has bargained with Indian drug companies to produce and distribute an anti-retroviral drug made just for the children with AIDS; one that they can afford and consume profitably. A three-in-one pill that allows triple, quadruple, the number of children to receive drug aid. The question is posed why do these wealthy drug companies, whose industry with the western world AIDs need is not affected by such a proposal, hang onto a patent for drugs that is for the children?

Loyola University Museum to Recognize World AIDS Day – 11/30/2006

An amazing deflation and inflation of Lewis DeSoto’s Buddha is happening now at LUMA (Loyola University Museum of Art, see above link). The Buddha will inflate tomorrow on World Aid’s Day. More on the work is at the Worcester Art Museum’s past exhibit of “ParaNirvana (Self-Portrait):”

“It is said that Buddha remained on Earth after attaining enlightenment to teach others his insights into achieving salvation. As he lay in pain dying, he gave further compassionate lessons on the nature of consciousness and the structure of samsara (the wheel of life, death, suffering, and rebirth)”

Deflate, Inflate….when you make an effort to help someone or the world no matter how small you have taken a giant step.
