“I’m saddened by today’s verdict. This isn’t the Tony Rezko I knew, but now he has been convicted by a jury on multiple charges that once again shine a spotlight on the need for reform. I encourage the General Assembly to take whatever steps are necessary to prevent these kinds of abuses in the future.” –Obama

“Convicted political fixer Tony Rezko was found guilty on 16 counts of corruption on June 4, 2008, and went directly to jail. He will be sentenced on September 3, 2008.”-auchi, rezko and obama

“REPORTER: The mayor suggests low pay may have played a part in James Delayo’s decision to accept bribes. The 60-year-old made $74,000 a year.”–Bloomberg

For Obama it was the “need for reform”‘s fault and for Bloomberg “‘low’ pay” was at fault. Both men did not hold their associate or employee fully accountable and by not doing so they both deferred their own responsibilities to the public.

Yes they really did mean to say that!
