To my further chagrin my mom speaks CNN-ese to me. She tells me that Lehman executives deserve the millions of dollars taken out of the pockets of their creditors and assigned for lawyers fees because they deserve a fair trial. Does buying the court system mean a fair trial? Let’s put my mom’s brainwashed mind bend to the test? What if the court said to Lehman ‘you can only receive pro bono lawyering or be a self-represented litigant and you may not use your creditors’ money to buy representation?” Well then rest assured not one single law firm representing Lehman would do so on a pro bono basis. Surely, Lehman wouldn’t think it worthwhile to represent themselves. This is exactly what was required of an “honest and unbought” judge to arrange for a fair trial for Lehman and this was not done.
