Songs of Joy & Peace
— HERE COMES THE SUN – James Taylor guitar and vocals

Yo-Yo ma walks us through Songs of Joy & Peace in his podcasts in the above widget.
He tells us music means alot to people in hard times.

His album is the musical party that resulted when Yo-Yo Ma invited old friends and new friends to come on over with their favorite song of joy and peace. He defines music as a byproduct of happiness and joy; its a communal effort, everyone has to join in for it to work (akin to the green movement). He could not have achieved the album if he had not worked with Brazilian and Soco music in 2002, the equivalent of another four year degree. The Soco music was totally foreign to him at the time.

On this collaboration with his musical friends, trust was the key element.

Its when two people are ready to collaborate, both people are open to it; that there are certain moments when they can be open to each other; there is a willingness to share what they own; there is a predisposition for respect; that you are willing to take a risk, to trust each other, to be vulnerable. Trust has to be there.
